International students, Join us !

The Ryukoku University is a 19000 students-size school and a 370-year-old of historically-honored sect located on Kyoto and Otsu, time-honored and world-wide famed area of Japan: needless to say, there are a lot of the holy and venerable heritage of shinto shrine and temples. Kyoto and Otsu area offer all of the amenities common to major cities in Japan, and its natural beauty make them one of the most desirable places to live in Japan. Lake, forest, and a lot of recreation areas are located close to the cities.

The department of chemistry at RU was established at Otsu in 1989: the first college of natural science and technology among universities founded by Buddhist organizations. Students thrive in the environment both personally and scientifically. The mission of our group is to create an atmosphere that the students and supervisor can enjoy on a daily basis, while preparing students to make critical contributions to chemical science.

International students interested in both the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees are encouraged to apply. Contact TI directly, and also contact RU office for formal information about how to apply to our group (you do not have to use the Japanese language, no problems to use English!). You can find general information about grad studies at RU and admission requirements at the website. New grad students may start at April or September. Students entering in the M.S. program may switch to the Ph.D. program after two years, provided they clear the exams and interviews for entry into the Ph.D. program. The time required for completion of the degrees varies; however it is typically 2 years for a M.S. thesis and 3-5 years for a Ph.D. thesis.

Our group needs international PhD students who are highly motivated, and passionate to reseach. If you have a lot of guts to earn a PhD degree in chemistry, join us !
